This Axis Scientific model studies the musculature of the human skull. The masticatory muscles are clearly displayed in contrasting color, and made from a textured material with realistic muscle surface (note, the pieces are not flexible).
The skull cap is removeable for better visibility into the skull anatomy. The articular disc of the temporomandibular joint is displayed, carefully cradling the mandibular condyle and allowing for the smooth articulation of the jaw. This skull model is suited to demonstrate the function of the masticator muscles with jaw occlusion, the initial stage of jaw opening and the movements of the mandible to the side and front.
